DIY Save-The-Date Inspiration

Taylor Glenn Photography provided this post today about a unique DIY Save-the-Date card from one of his upcoming clients.

I opened my mail today and found this great card from Lyndsey and Ryan who will be getting married this September here in Jackson. I thought it was a really great piece so I asked her where she got the inspiration for this:

“I bought that WPA postcard from the visitor’s center at the park when we were there in January. I immediately thought of it when I knew we were doing the wedding in January. It wasn’t too hard to find similar typefaces to customize it for our Save the Date, and then add the wedding couple. Easy & fast- exactly what we needed!”

Be a Poser | Photo Stations for Your Event

Photo stations with fabric backdrops have been on the scene for about a year now. When Cara hired me to shoot her wedding, I knew her event would be a good candidate for some photo fabric fun. All year we schemed up a unique photo station idea. Cara totally ran with it, even finding some gorgeous fabric while on a trip to San Francisco. Cara came up with an aspen arbor to hang the fabric from (which was also used as a focal point during the ceremony). She also purchased about $100 in props (you gotta have props). Cara just made my day when I saw it all come together. See for yourself…

Guest Spot | Taylor Glenn: Photo Booth Fun

Taylor Glenn, a local Jackson Hole Wedding Photographer, sent over some photographs of a photo booth option he is now offering to his clients. I think this is a great idea… It is a creative and fun way to capture many of your guests and adds a whole other dimension to your wedding photography. These photos can also be offered as gifts to your guests after the wedding – Your photographer may offer printing services on-site or shortly after the wedding.

Taylor says on his blog: “A fun new addition to our services is a Photo Booth. Pick your own fabric background or we’ll find one that matches your colors and style. We’ll bring the chalkboards and you bring the fun. Other props are encouraged as well. This is great fun for a rehearsal dinner party or your reception.”

Q & A | Cara & Spencer’s DIY Invitation Suite

I just got Cara and Spencer’s invite in the mail! It’s so charming and I love that Cara designed it all herself. She should do this professionally don’t you think? This couple will be getting married this September in Jackson Hole.

So here’s info from Cara on this DIY project:

Q. Who designed your invitation suite?
A. Well… I designed the entire thing! And the graphic designer here at the paper put my designs in InDesign.

Q. What inspired you?
A. They are based off a wedding I saw in Martha Stewart Weddings.

Q. Who printed the fabric invite?
A. I had a lady in Oakland do the screen printing. Her name is Karol Doi.

Q. Where did you find the paper for the reply cards and envelopes?
A. The paper stuff is from Paper Source. I ordered 260 of the enclosure cards.

Q. Who printed the reply cards?
A. The printer is in Charlotte, NC.

Q. The raffia is a nice touch. Who did you have assemble that for you?
A. My mom bought the raffia for a couple dollars form Michaels. She sewed all 130 invites, stuffed them and put the raffia around them. I have a wonderful mother!

Q. I love your vintage stamps. Where did you find those?
A. I ordered all the stamps from EBay.

Q. How much did this all cost?
A. Envelopes, folders, rsvp and event cards and printing were $200. Still, so much cheaper than letterpress but still has a huge wow factor. Cloth invites $300 (if you buy your own cloth, this goes down significantly. we paid $1 an invite. but if you have time and can cut them all yourself, you can save a lot of money). Total cost for 130 invites was $500 – $600 if you add in the calligrapher.
